Why Dresden was Bombed



The Soviets were starting an advance into Germany and the Allies decided to BombPlane bombing Dresden Dresden and other cities in Berlin. The Allies wanted to restrict the Germans troop movements, and inflict confusion on the Germans. By restricting the Germans troop movements, it make the Soviet advance a little easier.

The Aftermath


After the bombing of Dresden was over 24,866 houses in the inner city were destroyed, out of the 28,410 houses that were there before the bombings began. An area of 15 square kilometers was totally destroyed. As of today we think about 25,000 to 35,000 people were killed in the bombings.
